My Phone’s SD Card got corrupted today and I had some pics I know I’ll never get back (of my Daughter and I) on the carousel. So what I decided to do was what I always do.. Fire up the old Command Prompt and use Photorec and Test Disk. Not only does it work fine for SD Cards, It works great for Hard Drives as well.
I can say that I’ve never tried it on a Disk Array, but if you’re in a position where you’ve set up a Disk Array that went bad, then all I have to say is.. *Uhm* ok.
Sorry to get off on a Tangent, but if you you go through the trouble of setting up RAID and you use RAID-0 and NOT RAID 1+0, then I’m going to say.. You deserve it? Sorry.. but if you’re after the performance of RAID 0, then you can definitely afford a good 1+0 array and card.
This post, however, is not about that. It’s about getting those pics, data, and god knows whatever else I had on the card. I really only cared about the pics from today..
So.. Why pay for a product that will cost you $hundreds of dollars that won’t do anything?
Here’s a hint.. use this: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download
There’s a download for every platform. If you don’t know what you’re doing, here’s a hint..
Pull out the card and put it in a safe place. DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE IT OR FORMAT IT.
CONTACT ME.. or someone with a computer clue. We’ll get the data for you.
Yes.. It takes hours and I’m somewhat skilled at Data Recovery too.. so I’m not worried.. Just a Corrupt Card. Bound to happen eventually anyway. **meh** got my data back and life’s all good.
