Many people have asked me about consulting / maintenance of their existing servers. This includes everything from Upgrades, Installations, Backups, to Migrations and of course, security. Obviously, I do quite a bit of work for different people and companies. The problem is how do you get a hold of me when you need me? Obviously, you wouldn’t call the Tech Support / Help Desk just to say hello (although, we would all really appreciate it). There is a need to get a hold of the expertise when the need arises.
I get quite a few contacts in the middle of the night and on weekends, but the bottom line is if you’re not my existing customer, you can’t expect me to “Jump to your rescue” (although, I do it on a frequent basis if I happen to be up). I believe in helping people whenever I can.
Many of my client(s) large and small are on my maintenance / consulting plan. After much thought, I decided I’m going to offer it to my readership.
I will monitor your server / device / service for you at $50.00 per month. (Hypervisors count as one server, but the VMs they host count as an additional server). The monitoring will be tailored to your specific needs.
I will also perform application level monitoring (Asterisk, Web, Database, etc).
In the event an alert comes to my attention, I will notify you about the potential outage (running out of disk space, DDoS attacks, etc). My notification will include the estimated # of hours to fix the problem. If you authorize me to fix the problem, I will fix the problem for the set fee in the notification. Your problem is avoided. (Small issues that require 5-10 min. will normally be fixed by me without a fee). You will usually be notified about this after it’s done. ( I just chalk it up as basic maintenance).
In the event of an emergency: I will know about the problem usually before you will. I will call / text / email you (find a way to contact you) as quickly as possible. Once again, the fee(s) are fixed price and I will require your authorization ahead of time. If I can’t get in touch with you, but you have signed an “emergency services” waiver, I will go ahead and fix the problem if it’s a critical issue (to be agreed upon in the waiver). You will get billed after the service is complete.
I will also perform backups of your data (configure them) to automatically run every day / night / or whatever schedule you would like.
I will monitor your traffic and server load. If the load is getting high and you have the need to expand due to increased load / traffic, I will notify you and provide you with different solutions.
If you have maintenance requests, I will perform them based on queue and priority (for a fixed fee).
As my client, you will be one of the people who will actually get priority with me as well as the ability to actually reach me during times of emergency. Not bad for $50.00/month, huh?
Well, that’s basically it. You can rest easy and only pay for what you need.
