I recently decided to post a few items on craigslist for free. I was getting rid of a few items and decided if someone needed those items, they could have them if they wanted to pick them up. Keep in mind I’ve had some horrible experiences with Craigslist people in the past and I could have easily just thrown out these items. While some Craigslisters are genuine and appreciative, there are a select few people out there that just spend their time wasting mine.
I posted a couple of statements in my ad basically telling people not to waste my time. I don’t care for stupid questions and I definitely don’t care to know them beyond them picking up the item. I don’t want to deal with small-talk, I don’t want to see pictures of your kids, and I don’t want to know what you do or how you’re going to use the item. If you need it, come get it, but don’t waste my time. It’s something called common courtesy.
Well.. Needless to say, I’ve gotten some interesting responses from those that would waste my time such as people calling me a miserable asshole and such. How I don’t deserve to be human, etc. It’s pretty damn funny.
Keep this in mind.. The people that spend their time trolling the “Free Stuff” section of Craigslist just to start a fight with me over email must be the ones that obviously have nothing better to do with their time. Why would you get upset or insulted about my comments unless you were one of those people?
For the sake of God people, I’m giving you something for free. If you don’t like my attitude about not wanting to hear about your kids, life, or job, then don’t contact me. I really don’t care.
Mind your business, if you don’t like my attitude or request for minimal conversation, don’t contact me. You don’t need to take my items. Stop being so friggin neurotic and get off your drama-encrusted horse. Personally, I don’t want to know you. If I did, I would write, “Seeking Friends and Conversation with Neurotic People” as a subject line in the post. I did no such thing.
It seems these people can’t seem to understand they’re the reason I wrote what I did.
While not all Craigslisters are like this, a fair majority of them are… It’s this population that unfortunately gives the Craigslist population a bad name. I’ve purchased and sold things on Craigslist. The purchases for the most part go off without a hitch. I don’t tell my life story. I introduce myself, inspect / pay for the item and leave with a “Thank You”.

So do me a favor people. If you don’t like my request for minimal conversation, don’t pick up the product. The world doesn’t owe you and neither do I. Get a job, spend your time doing more positive things and stop critiqueing every one and every thing. Who died and made you the lord of morality? I’m giving away something to people that may need / want it. If they don’t, then I will dispose of it. Either way, I’m not making any remarks that are insulting to any one individual, race, or class of people. Get a life people.. You just might enjoy it. Also, you’d be surprised at how much nicer life is without drama. Oh yeah, you won’t need as many meds also.
