Posted on April 27, 2012 by Percy Kwong

Every once in a while, we have to build a server.  You’ve spent the time installing and configuring everything and you want a snapshot for Posterity’s sake.  Here’s how to do it quickly.  This little command will simply take a snapshot of everything of importance and for the most part allow you to restore your…

Posted on April 14, 2012 by Percy Kwong

Every once in a while, we need to go to a website that has a non-standard port.  For example, the address might look like this:  https://localhost:888  (This would be for the 3ware management interface for example). In Mozilla Firefox, you’ll get a screen that looks like this: [singlepic id=63] Obviously, this can be a real…

Posted on February 6, 2012 by Percy Kwong

For those of us still on Windows Internet Explorer as a browser, we’ve definitely made some changes to the default security settings.  This leads to the really annoying bar that pops up asking you to “Fix the Security Settings for Me.” (Click the Thumbnail to see the annoying page) [nggallery id=3] If you’re like me,…

MailArchiva

Posted on March 12, 2011 by Percy Kwong

I decided I needed a good mail archiving solution and after looking long and hard, I found Mailarchiva. The community edition seemed promising, but after over 30 hours of troubleshooting, it’s pretty clear it doesn’t work. Sigh. Save yourself the time and look elsewhere. This is definitely not the solution.

Gas and Electric Reductions

Posted on February 22, 2008 by Percy Kwong

Well, I can say that it’s pretty ugly.  Gas + Electric more than $1000.00 a month.  I wondered if I could do anything about it, so I took a look at a few things and figured, why not give it a shot?  Worse Case, I hate the implementations and I undo my actions. I went…
