These are just my views about Search Engine Optimization and nothing more. Search Engine Optimization is important, but you don’t need to pay thousands of dollars for it. In fact, most SEO firms are a scam. It’s the cat and mouse game they play with the search engines.
So here’s the deal (from my opinion and experience).
1 I’ve never used SEO EVER (from a firm).
2. Anyone who sells you SEO services is doing nothing more than taking your money and making the same suggestions or trying to game the system.
3. While Search Engine Optimization is important, there are a few things one should know.
Write good content. Make it articulate and well positioned.
Get involved in forums and link back to your blog whenever possible.
Keep your content updated. If your information becomes stale, it drops in the ratings. It’s the nature of search engines. Show the most relevant and newest information.
Stop trying to game the system and figure out how to beat the system. All it does is penalize you.
What you want is organic traffic and referrals. These are the things that make it important. If you keep your content up to date, tag it correctly and use the Meta headers properly, you’re going to find that your rankings will increase.
Write about things you think people will be interested in. Find your niche. The more niche your writing is and the more information you give about these niches, you will appear higher on the rankings, because people aren’t writing about it.
In other words, save your money. If you want to spend 3000.00 or more on SEO services, just consider a donation to this blog and I will give you as many hours of my time as you need helping you make your site better without gaming the system.
Much of this is covered in my book, but I’m not going to make a huge push for it anymore. I think I’ve spent enough time promoting something people need, but if they’re interested, it’s great, if they’re not, that’s fine too.
There are REAL tips on how to drive traffic to your website in my book and they are valid and not “gaming the system” tips.
I’ll be writing a book on driving traffic to a website soon, but in the meantime, I’m busy trying to support my family. If someone would like to donate money for me to write the book, I will give them a free copy when it’s done and make it high on my list of priorities.
I never used SEO gaming or tried to trick the search engines. I just simply write about things people need and I feel passionate about.
Over 3 months, my traffic has increased exponentially.
Another thing… Ignore those website ranking systems… If you do, all you’re going to do is drive yourself crazy. They’re meaningless.
They show this blog as ranking very low on the totem pole, but yet I get more traffic than many commercial websites. How ironic.
In summation, I would say there are better ways to promote yourself and your product / services / websites than paying someone 3000.00+ to tell you that you need to Increase your font size.
